Water Sports

The lake is very salty, with a specific gravity similar to seawater, and much more buoyant than fresh water. Floating is no problem, so sailing and boating are popular pastimes although there is no fishing in salty water. Swimming lessons are offered in Watrous and a boat launch is available. Freshwater showers have been erected at intervals along the beach to wash the salt off. Benches and trees are everywhere.

Swimming

New swimming pool in Watrous, offering swimming lessons over the summer. The Spa at Village of Manitou Beach has a mineral pool and there is a swimming area at the beach.
